Terms of Service

Last Updated 06/29/2026

Welcome to my website. If you continue to browse and use this website, or book an appointment through my online calendar, you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use.

1. Nature of Services & Eligibility

I provide spiritual direction services both in-person within the Portland, Oregon metro area and virtually via Zoom.

  • Age Requirement: You must be 18 years of age or older to book an appointment or receive spiritual direction services.

  • Scope of Practice: Spiritual direction is a process of companioning individuals on their spiritual journeys. It is not psychological counseling, therapy, financial planning, or medical advice.

  • Client Responsibility: You acknowledge that you are fully responsible for your own lifestyle choices, well-being, and decisions during and after our sessions.

2. Appointment Booking & Confirmation

  • Requests: Submitting a booking request through the online calendar does not guarantee an appointment.

  • Confirmation: A booking is only finalized once you receive a manual confirmation email from me. I reserve the right to decline any booking request at my discretion.

3. Cancellation & Rescheduling & Weather Policy

Your time and my time are valuable. Because a specific block of time is reserved just for you, the following policy applies:

  • 24-Hour Notice: If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, you must do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled start time.

  • Late Notice/No-Shows: Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than 24 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, may impact future booking availability or be subject to missed-session policies discussed during our initial consultation.

  • Inclement Weather: For in-person meetings in the Portland area, safety comes first. In the event of severe weather (such as snow or ice storms), we will automatically pivot our session to Zoom at your regularly scheduled time, or reschedule without penalty.

4. Confidentiality

What is said in a spiritual direction session is confidential. No one else will be privy to what is said with two exceptions:

  • Peer Supervision: I participate in a peer supervision group to help me become a better and more perceptive spiritual director. I may occasionally bring a directee's situation to supervision. This group is strictly bound by confidentiality as well.

  • Mandatory Reporting: As a mandatory reporter, I have a legal duty to report abuse and situations where there is imminent danger to yourself or others.

  • Dual Relationships: Since spiritual direction often takes place in communities of faith, I practice dual relationships. This means we may interact outside of direction. The fact that you are seeing me will not necessarily be confidential, while the content of our sessions will remain strictly protected.

5. Technical Requirements for Zoom Sessions

  • Client Setup: For virtual sessions, you are responsible for ensuring you have a secure, private location and a working internet connection capable of running Zoom.

  • Technical Glitches: If a session is interrupted by technical issues on my end, we will reschedule the remaining time at no extra cost. If the disruption occurs on your end, the session time may still be counted in full.

6. Intellectual Property

The content, layout, design, data, graphics, and trademarks displayed on this website are the property of this business and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any content without written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of this website or any services booked through it.

8. Governing Law

  • Mandatory Arbitration: Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to this website, these Terms of Service, or the services provided shall be settled by binding arbitration rather than in a court of law.

  • Waiver of Court Trial: By agreeing to these terms, you knowingly and voluntarily waive your right to a trial by judge or jury and waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit.

  • Location and Law: The arbitration shall take place in Multnomah County, Oregon (or a mutually agreed-upon location in the Portland metro area) and shall be governed by the laws of the State of Oregon.

  • Cost Sharing: Each party shall bear their own attorney fees, and the administrative costs of the arbitration itself will be split equally between both parties, unless the arbitrator determines otherwise.
